If you’ve ever looked around your local market and thought, “Is this really it?” you’re not alone. Many of us started our businesses in places where luxury didn’t seem to exist. The venues were fine. The rentals were okay. The weddings were beautiful… but everything kind of felt like it stopped just short of truly exceptional.

This episode was a powerful reminder that luxury isn’t about where you live. It’s about what you bring to the table. Pushing boundaries starts with questioning the norm, refusing to settle, and deciding that “good enough” isn’t good enough anymore.

We talked about redefining what’s possible in your market. Whether that means sourcing more elevated rentals, refining your shot list, or simply being the vendor who goes the extra step, that’s where the shift happens. When you start caring about the fork being straight, the candles being lit, the trash can being moved out of frame… it all adds up. That level of attention becomes part of your reputation.

Another big topic was the importance of being a team player. Luxury events aren’t pulled off by lone wolves. They’re created by vendors who trust each other, show up for each other, and treat the planner’s vision like it’s their own. If you’re wanting to build relationships with higher-end planners, being detail-oriented, responsive, and collaborative is key.

And of course, we touched on the tools and systems that either elevate or limit you. Not every system you learned as a beginner will carry you into the next level. Sometimes the very things that helped you get started — like automation-heavy CRMs or overly rigid workflows — are the same things holding you back from scaling up. Growth often looks like unlearning, simplifying, and building something better.

The takeaway? You don’t have to wait for someone else to raise the bar in your city. You can be the one to do it. You can be the one who shifts the standard, who builds better, who takes the risk and makes space for more. It doesn’t have to happen overnight, but it does start with the choice to expect more from yourself and your business.
