What if the only thing standing between you and the next level of your business is the fear of getting it wrong?
In this episode, Kelley’s reflecting on 15 years of creative work and what she wishes she had known earlier. She’s talking about the shifts that actually moved the needle, the old habits she’s ready to leave behind, and the creative pivots that helped us build a wedding business that felt aligned, elevated, and sustainable. If you’ve ever looked back at your older work and cringed (same), or if you’ve been wondering whether your creative instincts are enough to compete in the luxury space, this one’s for you.
You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to grow. Because the truth is, you’re already more capable than you think.

If you’ve ever looked back on your early work and cringed a little, you’re not alone. As creatives, that mix of pride and humility is something we all wrestle with, especially when you’ve been in business long enough to see your early couples celebrating 10-year anniversaries.
In this episode, I took a walk down memory lane and watched one of our wedding films from 2015. A client had just posted it for their anniversary, and I realized it had been nearly a decade since I’d seen it. This wasn’t just nostalgia, it was an opportunity to reflect on how far I’ve come, what has truly stood the test of time, and where I still had room to grow. Spoiler alert: we’re never done learning.

Watching that film again, I could see the heart I poured into it. The narrative was strong. The bride’s late father had a meaningful presence throughout the edit. And most importantly, I could tell that even back then, I was thinking about legacy. About how this film would age. About how the family would feel watching it years down the road. That intention? It still fuels my work today.
But I also saw what I’d missed. The sensory moments I didn’t capture. The drone shots I was too hesitant to adopt. The decor details I skimmed over. It reminded me that playing it safe, staying comfortable, and clinging to old workflows can keep us from reaching our full potential.
There was a season where I thought I had everything figured out. I was five years in, we had shot over a hundred weddings, and I was confident. But now, at year fifteen, I can look back and see where I needed to stretch more. I needed to step back, literally and creatively. I needed to embrace new tools. I needed to tell fuller, richer stories. And I needed to keep evolving.

If you’re in that 2-5 year range right now, confident but still growing, I want to encourage you. You’re exactly where you need to be. The real magic happens when you commit to refining your craft without losing sight of the people you’re serving. Your couples aren’t looking for trendy. They’re looking for timeless. They’re looking for feeling.
We also talked in this episode about the power of community and surrounding yourself with people who push you to grow. That’s something I wish I’d leaned into even earlier. Because the truth is, some of the biggest shifts in my business happened when I stopped trying to do it all on my own and started building relationships with others on the same journey.
