How did Level Up actually start?

Most people assume there was some big strategy behind it. A detailed business plan, months of preparation, or some perfectly timed launch into the education space. But the truth is much simpler and honestly a little unexpected.

Level Up began with a single text message.

For a few years, the podcast existed in a much different form. It was something that started as a passion project inside the wedding filmmaking world. Episodes would go out for a few months, then there might be a gap, then another round of episodes. It was fun, but it was also something that lived on the side of a busy wedding business.

TAt the same time, we were both fully immersed in the industry ourselves. Shooting weddings, running our own companies, and navigating all of the same challenges that photographers and filmmakers face when they are trying to grow beyond the early years of their business.

During that time, our paths crossed in small ways. A sponsorship on the podcast. A guest appearance on an episode. Speaking inside a program. The kind of connections that happen naturally when you spend enough time in the same industry.

Then one day, everything shifted.

At the start of 2023, a simple text message was sent asking a question that would change the direction of the podcast and eventually create what Level Up is today. The idea was simple. What if we built this together?

What followed was not months of overthinking or hesitation. Within weeks we were talking about vision, values, and what we believed the wedding industry actually needed. Within a few months we were sitting together in a coffee shop outlining what would become The Luxury Framework.

Looking back, it all moved quickly, but it also felt incredibly clear.

OWhat we both recognized was that so many talented photographers and filmmakers were stuck in the same place. They had the skill. They had the passion. But they didn’t always have a roadmap for turning that talent into a business that truly supported their life.

They were working constantly but still questioning their pricing. Booking weddings but struggling to move into higher end markets. Growing their craft but unsure how to grow their brand.

We had both spent over a decade in the wedding industry learning those lessons ourselves. Combining those experiences felt like an opportunity to help other creatives shorten the learning curve.

Another thing we discovered quickly was that our strengths complemented each other in a way that made the partnership work naturally. One of us thrives in the strategy, systems, and behind the scenes planning. The other is deeply focused on community, mentorship, and creating an incredible experience for the creatives we serve.

That balance became the foundation for everything we built.

Today, Level Up has grown into a space where wedding photographers and filmmakers come to learn how to elevate their businesses, refine their brands, and step into the luxury market with confidence. But at its core, the mission has always stayed the same.
